Here’s some close up shots of a piece I’m currently working on. It’s a painting on 22″ x 22″ pine (working title: HC-159). Materials used: house paints, acrylics, inks, colored pencils, charcoal and the all important paint removal/ mark making tools like sandpaper and a paint scrapper. This piece could be nearly complete (I thought it was over the weekend) or may be totally reworked before it’s done; still not sure yet (hence why I only posted images of a small portion of the work). Working on this has been a fun and educational process informing where I will go with the next piece that is in the works. More work with wood only smaller pieces that will be assembled into one larger work with the intent of forming a narrative. It’s wild enough diving into something like painting, which I have done very little of, but now I’m also flushing out my woodworking skills. I can’t say I’m comfortable with using a table saw, but it’s worth it to be able to cut up reclaimed wood into the sizes I need.
